Tear away all your hopes, beliefs and desires. What are you left with?
Staring at the ceiling, Paul Gregory listens to the thump and hiss of the respirators keeping his body alive. He has time to reflect on this as his old life disappears. Exit ‘The Hangman,’ I.E.W. tag-team champion. Enter Paul Gregory, patient.
Abandoned in a hospital in Korea by both the women he thought loved him and his wrestling partner, Mickey, Paul wonders where and how to begin again. Returning home, Paul locks the Hangman into his cage, and tries to restart his life. His fresh start sends him back to school, where he struggles to settle into the routine of life as a college student.
Part of his unease has to do with his college professor, Clara Winters, who fills his thoughts with desire and hope. Then a phone call on his answering machine dredges up old fears and memories; memories of betrayal and love lost.
Paul is set on a collision course with old lovers, old partners, and old fears as he once again dons the mask and returns to his old life in the ring. The Hangman will collect what is owed him. Will it be love or betrayal? When the trapdoor opens, only the Hangman knows.
