Loona Sea & the Nissan Wildebeest

Loona Sea & the Nissan Wildebeest follows the adventures of Elana Holl Lewis and her sister, Sara Luce, as they struggle to survive what is known in their rather morbid family as a vacation. Traveling to West Va. to await the imminent death of Great Uncle Carl, whom she’s never actually met, Elana Holl is prepared to go hungry, to be hit on by her cousins and to spend every moment protecting her sister from the temper of their abusive mother, quite certain she’s no longer able to be surprised by life’s little twists and turns until an inebriated family member mistakes a Nissan for a deer. While the sisters must work together to save the driver’s life, Elana Holl finds herself imagining what it would be like to stand up and save herself. Based loosely upon events that most likely never occurred, Loona Sea is a story of self-discovery, breaking free and steadfastly refusing to allow one’s genes to ruin one’s life.
