Welcome to the Lower East Side's Drums & Drama, book one in a series of tales from the streets of New York City. Set in 1993, we meet Tony, the neighborhood ne'er-do-well looking to find his place in the world.

Tony was was always involved in drama as far back as he could remember. If it wasn't getting arrested for smoking weed on a park bench, then it was dealing with baby mama drama with not one, but two different women. Still living with his parents was creating even more stress in his life, but the one joy that allowed him to release all his pent up frustration was playing the drums . . . conga drums that is.

It just so happens that he lived in the Lower East Side, a hot bed for some of the most creative conga drumming in New York City. Between the machismo and over-the-top players in his hood, Tony finds himself on the cusp of greatness.

After meeting Jessica, a gorgeous, young law student from Da Bronx, and a chance encounter with a well-respected bandleader looking to replace his own drummer, Tony is suddenly at a crossroads in his life. Does he stop using drums as a way to hide from his problems, or does he use his God-given ability to take his name to new heights?

As if that decision wasn't hard enough, Pablito, the neighborhood gangster is finally out of prison for the first time in eight years, and for some strange reason, has his sights set on Tony. To make matters worse, his friend George owes a local loan shark more than $60,000 for a real state deal gone sour.

What follows is a series of events over the course of eight weeks that will test Tony's desire to be "somebody." Will he succeed in spite of the odds, or will he just become a victim of the streets, or worse - himself?
