A midair collision between two fighter jets in Iraq ended the life of one pilot and forever altered the life of the other. Meet John Dees, the surviving pilot. The injury he received while parachuting from his disabled jet combined with cruel and inept medical care in the hands of his captors cost him half of a leg.
Now, a disabled veteran of the Iraq war, he returns home to the States as a man on a mission. During his descent in the damaged parachute, he had made a pledge to the memory of the other pilot – if he survived, he would in essence become a guardian angel for his friend’s widow and five year old daughter.
That quest brings him to a small town in Louisiana. He must find a job which will offer a place in the community and allow him to meet the widow, Louise, and the child, Gabrielle – a way for him to be in position to offer aid when needed.
