From the time she was young, Ana Cartena’s mother warned her to stay away from wolves. Ana, however, sought the comfort and safety wolves provide. Ana followed her mother’s orders after she had her son, but became tired of the struggles; struggles that turned her hands knotted and gnarled like the Brazilwood trees. When the demon Exú came into her life, Ana knew she would have to pay for her transgressions. The wolves tore her apart.
