Dog Woman

It's 1989. George Woods is eleven years old and lives in the shadow of his older cousin Teddie, the best player - and the only girl - on their sandlot baseball team. George discovers that there's more to life than baseball when he befriends Bibi, an artistic recluse who keeps a dozen Siberian huskies and a wolf dog on a hidden farmstead down the road. Over the course of a summer and autumn, the dog woman teaches George to carve wood and stand up for himself. When things go terribly wrong for Bibi, George confronts bullies, a corporation, and local government to defend her honor. From tragedy arises a creation never before seen in George's community.
