THE RED HOUSE, a novel of a young couple, a writer and an artist, who in their first year of marriage inherit a dilapidated English country estate and try to set up housekeeping using the do-it-yourself principle. This is a light romantic story, easy lazy day enjoyment. The Bastable kids from “The Story of the Treasure Seekers” make a cameo appearance in this story. Nesbit is known mainly for her children outstanding children stories. Example: “Railway Children” and “The Book of Dragons”. E. Nesbit has had a direct or indirect influence on many writers including J.K. Rowling, ”Harry Potter” books and C.S. Lewis, “Narnia” series.
