A Limited Repsonse

"A Limited Response" is the second volume of the triogy which began with "Playing Naked
with the Promethium Gift." In this secong volume,Calvin Jaynes is in Vietnam. He has received motor fragments in the wrist and is taken of of the field. While of light duty with a transportation unit his convoy is attacked and a number of men are killed. Jumping out of a truck at the time of the attack he breaks a fibula in his leg. This time he is assigned to a unit of the supply and transport battalion stationed at the depot which is processing requisitions for the division. While processing the requisitions Calvin becomes aware that there is major theft of government supplies going on. He reports his suspicions to the Inspector General and as a result he is immediately found incompetent at his job and transferred to the depot. At the depot he is assigned to the inventory section, counting things. But Calvin is almost arrested and court-martialed. As a result he is tranferred once again: to shit burner. Having descended as far as he thinks he can go in the Army chain of command, Calvin's real education begins.
