The Professor

This is the first novel written by the famous author of Jane Eyre. The book is the story of a young man, William Crimsworth. It describes his maturation, his loves and his eventual career as a professor at an all-girl's school.

It was written under the pseudonym, or pen name, Currer Bell to hide the fact that the author was a female and might be unjustly criticized by the literary powerful. Also, she felt it might not be considered "feminine" enough for the times.
