“Heck, you’re the biggest fool in the world,” Martin Hector declares to himself not knowing this was just the beginning. Losing the cheating girlfriend isn’t the problem but two hundred hours of public service is a different matter. Heck wasn’t drunk, but he still is out picking up litter where he finds an abandoned baby in a culvert.
His Neighbor Maggie is willing to help with the baby but in exchange she wants Hick’s help. Her Grandmother has sent her out to the old home to find out where all her land went. Her land went from thousands of acres to less than one. With this announcement, Heck’s Grandfather confesses his land is now fenced off with threatening signs posted on it.
This is only the beginning. Heck has more problems than he knows what to do with. He knows nothing about babies. His family still thinks he is just playing around with his computer even though he owns a multi-million dollar computer company. The neighboring ranch has armed men guarding the gates and helicopters with submachine guns that chase away unwanted visitors. He finds the land deeds are forged, the phones are bugged, the springs that feed the town of Casa del Agua, the house of water, have dried up, and they need to find a missing State Trooper before the helicopters do.
Whoever is stealing the land and the water, shooting policemen, chasing them in armed helicopters are now trying to kill him.
