This is what moving and trucking is all about. Humping furniture and displays and exhibits with the humor, camaraderie, honesty, and endurance of men that make a moving company stand tall. Dick Diamond, co-owner of the Diamond Moving Company, tells his comical stories nightly at Paddy’s Bar. One that is often requested was the story of One-eyed Willie, with a belly full of whiskey, and a double barreled shotgun returned to the terminal to argue about his pay check he believed was fifteen minutes short. Dick knew that in Detroit Willie’s shotgun wasn’t for duck hunting. The wrestling on the dock that took place was later named in Diamond history as the ‘shotgun boogie’. When Dick gave a double head butt to Willie the dance abruptly ended.
The second most requested story was of the broker Jim Lash that wrestled a gorilla at a carnival in Macon, Georgia. That outcome was bizarre; truly one of a kind.
Forgoing all this comedy, back at the company, a dark dilemma has been born. A top Diamond road driver with illicit intrigue is moving illegal cargo throughout the country. After some deep consideration he decides to stop. He is told by the crooks that ceasing is out of the question. Mistakenly, within a week his co-driver is beaten nearly to death. A man steps forward to handle the situation. His knowledge of moving is still in the novice stage, but his ability to handle a dark operation is not. His plan and action makes an extremely interesting story.
