Mind Melding

When prison inmates are given the chance at rehabilitation and early release by participating in an experiment, many jump at the chance. They bid on the opportunity to escape prison for days at a time in "excursions" into the minds of normal, law-abiding citizens. The researchers hope that by seeing how normal people operate first-hand, criminals will be brought within society's norms. And since it's impossible for the mind to be completely severed from its body, the experiment poses no risk to the ordinary citizens--so the researchers think.
