Typee: A Peep at Polynesian Life by Herman Melville

TYPEE is a fictional account of two sailors stranded in the South Pacific. Based on Melville's actual experiences after having jumped ship in the Marquesas Islands, the story follows the exploits of two marooned sailors. Captured by hostile natives, the sailors face the grim prospect of cannibalism as they as they struggle to survive in hopes of eventual rescue.
