Redburn, His First Voyage by Herman Melville

REDBURN is a coming of age story of a refined young man (Wellingborough Redburn) whose first sea voyage exposes him to the harsh realities of the life of a sailor. A common theme in REDBURN and many of Melville's other works (including MOBY DICK) is the inexperienced youth facing realities for which he unprepared.
