A Battlefield Promotion

The author grew up on a farm in a small rural community (Monroeville, Indiana), and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in New Guinea and spent time in Australia where he met and married my mother and where I was born. My father told his family that one night he had a dream and awoke the next day, sat down at the typewriter, and wrote this book. It is obvious that his experiences in the war were a great influence in his life. This is a story of war and love and basic decency and friendship in the Pacific Field of Operation. This book is to honor my father and The Greatest Generation.
