The prologue opens up immediately with an action packed scene; Prince Darrick is beaten and thrown into a dungeon by his father's evil personal advisor, Lucer Stan. Meanwhile, King Kendrick has been poisoned by Lucer Stan, rendering the King virtually useless. Despite the advisor’s best efforts however, the plot is eventually uncovered and the Prince is freed. Ultimately, he is banished to an alternate Plane for punishment, where no one has ever returned.
The book then moves to present day northeast America. Tony Michaels is a successful computer analyst working on a special government contracted assignment for the Space Department. Unfortunately, he never sees it to completion because one fateful evening he and a new friend Emily discover a strange gem that transports them to Loggia. He learns he was originally born there and is named Arian, a descendant of Prince Darrick.
Arian (formerly known as Tony Michaels) commences a journey full of danger in search of a mystical sword that will enable him to seal the breach between the Planes once more. Simultaneously, the Kingdom of Faro finds itself on the brink of invasion from three ruthless armies, which has been orchestrated through the use of magic by a being called the Outlander. In the end, Prince Arian and his travel party find themselves trapped in a swamp that threatens to swallow them up entirely because evil demons dwell there.
