Human beings have always wondered why we are here and why the universe even exists. Somersault, A true story details a journey taken by an American woman with her ten year old daughter, following the Western re-discovery of conscious awareness and other New Age explorations of spirituality in the late 1960's. They wandered through the early 1970's across Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. Her quest was to combine the reason for life with the purpose of it, if indeed there was a purpose, and whether there was meaning for the individual, as we are each connected in this infinitely changing existence. Instead of overly intellectualizing "about" life, she wanted to experience and reconcile the dichotomies taught by different cultures and how their cultural and religious philosophies defined God, immortality and the Presence of Spirit. So from West to East Africa, across the Indian Ocean to Karachi, Pakistan and Bombay, India, south to Sri Lanka and back north to Mother Theressa's House of the Dying in Calcutta, and finally into the Himalayas in Nepal, this inspirational and lighthearted tale is told with the personalized writing style of the 1960's, detailing one journey to answer the quintessential human question, "What's it all about?"
