Some Americans believe that Wal-Mart is a negative influence on society. Stating facts such as, Wal-Mart hurts small businesses by offering prices the local stores cannot compete with, or that Wal-Mart's anti-union position breeds poor employee treatment. "Wal-Mart routinely violates laws protecting workers' organizing rights" (Featherstone 661), but what the majority of critics fail to take into consideration is that like many large corporations, Wal-Mart does a great deal to help the community. Wal-Mart donates millions of dollars every year to help small businesses that are owned by minorities and women, they donate millions of dollars worth of products and funding for natural disaster relief, and Wal-mart also offers private grants which can help education and other youth based programs; for these reasons, Wal-Mart is good for America....
