Book II of the Parallel World's Series, which can be read as a stand-alone.
To their surprise and pleasure, Nick and Marty find themselves back in their own world at the time of their youth--in 1957 Miami Beach. However, it is not the same environment since in this timeframe not only are their families different but the entire world had taken a dissimilar geo-political course.
The United Statesnow comprises of eighty states, Russia had been impoverished by World War II and the tyrannical rule of Stalin, Germany had been utterly devastated by the war, and Japan had been obliterated after it invaded the United States and caused millions of civilian casualties.
Marty and Nick love being young again and living in an environment that they had appreciated so much in their old days. It is their plan to remain aloof of the rest of the world and devote themselves to the pleasures of the gift they had been given. But their plans go awry when they are approached by the president of the Russian Government in Exile, who recognized nick as being the last in the line of the House of Romanov. He asks them to help free the starving people of Russia from the Communist yoke and take over as leaders of the country.
Though reluntant to become involved, Nick and Marty accept the offer to be officially declared heirs to the Russian throne. The problem is, though, that despite the horrors of the war and Stalin's excesses, his successors are just as wicked to their starving population as he was.
When the Russian president finds out about Nick's existence and his legitimacy, he orders the KGB to assasinate the couple. Unfortunately for him and his minions, they have no idea whom they are about to tangle with, particularly Marty's ruthless military abilities, which foils repeated attempts on their lives.
And even worse for the Russian president, when Nick digs into his remote racial memories he discoversthe existence of a huge diamond treasure that had been hidden by one of his ancesstorsand uses the proceeds to finance a revolution that will bring back the monarchy--a benevolent one this time, with him at its head.
Their plans succeed beyond belief, and after many hair-raising fights and adventures, Nick is invited through the now free Russian citizens' plebiscite to take his rightful place as their new Tsar.
