The crew on the second shift has left the conference room a mess again. Coffee cups, McDonald’s wrappers, newspapers, yellow legal pads, even pennies, all strewn from one end of the long oval-shaped wooden table to the other. And under a Time Out magazine, a large manila envelope, addressed to me c/o Mayfair & Hawkins LLP. That’s peculiar. I never get mail here at work. The envelope isn’t ticking or anything, so I open it. Out spills a green spiral notebook, stapled to the cover of which is a handwritten note.
Now, I probably would have put Marco’s spiral notebook in a box at the top of my closet and eventually forgotten all about it except for what happened the first afternoon I ventured out of my apartment to get some fresh air and break the cycle of Domino’s pizza.
DESCRIPTION:
Jimmy and Aziza work the overnight shift in the word processing department of a large Manhattan law firm. It’s a lonely shift.
