There were a number of things in her life that had happened because of Meave Brody's identical twin sister's single mindedness. Most of them had disrupted Meave's life, but not to the extent of forcing her to give up her dream job, move 2000 miles from her home, become mother to two preschoolers, and deal with a man who had been in love with her sister. "Had been" before Fionna's untimely death in a plane crash with her husband. Despite the grief of losing a part of herself with her twin's death, Meave had no desire to deal with a Fionna "reject." Max Wheelock had seen Fionna first, but when his goals and her desires clearly weren't ever going to mesh, Fionna had waltzed down the aisle with Dean Iddings, Max's best friend. Max had been deligated to third wheel, favorite uncle to their children, and the guy who did all the repairs on the historic white elphant the couple had bought. As Dean hadn't thought much of Meave, Max was prepared to do the same, in spite of the fact that he shared joint guardianship with her for young Izzy and Petes.

But there was something about Meave that had been lacking in her twin -- something he wasn't about to relinguish even when Meave's best friend came to town. A best friend who just happened to be her ex-husband.
