It has been did!
Now at last, after breathless anticipations and threats, we are confronted with the complete actuality at 99 cents. We refer to the long promised illustrated book on Greenwich Village.
This particular one is by Anna Alice Chapin, originally published by Dodd-Mead in 1917, now comes ready for your ebook reader. Anna Alice is not a villager herself, but surely was a busy little investigator, for she mentions at least fifteen Village hangouts by name and others by inuendo, besides displaying an intimate knowledge of the inner lives of our Village characters. Alice (we like to think of her as Alice) has climbed up to many a garret and down to many a cellar and told about those experiences with facile pen. She has read up on history, too, and her book tells about old Peter Warren and Major Burr and the rest of the ancient regime. And just to give a last perfect touch to the masterpiece, the book is dedicated to Vincente Pepe. (Can't you hear the dread tread of the rent collector?)
Oh, yes. It is quite harmless and perfectly safe to lend to your fellow ebook readers.
