While driving back home to Los Angeles on California Highway 395, William and Margaret Bordman ran into an unexpected snow storm and stopped on the side of the road where William installed the snow chains that they carried in the back of the SUV for emergencies.
Just as he finished, William was attacked by a huge wolf and fought him off even though he had been bitten. Margaret, who saw it happen, quickly pulled out a pistol from her purse which, being a retired FBI agent, she always carried. And, being an excellent shot, she killed the wolf with one shot to the head. Then, just as she approached William who looked quite dazed, she herself was bitten from behind by another wolf, which William killed with a baseball bat that he kept in the back of the car.
Quite shaken by what had happened to them, they used a first-aid kit to disinfect and clean their wounds, which they covered with large band-aids, then drove to the nearest town and registered in a small motel to wait out the strengthening storm.
They soon discover to their surprise that their aged bodies were transforming into unknown young people, and quickly realize that the attackers weren't just wolves but werewolves, and that they were turning into the physical likeness of their human form.
Then they discover quickly that the entire little town where they had stopped was populated by a large pack of werewolves who did not practice eating human flesh, who recognize their new visage as that of the human forms of the werewolves who had attacked them. Yet, no one bear them any malice for killing their attackers and they soon become integrated as outstanding memebers of the Pack.
