On March 14, 2009, the world I knew came to an end. In one single moment, the carpet laying so solidly beneath my feet, was torn from under me, sending me catapulting into a space I didn’t recognize, and where I didn’t want to remain.
Behind The Smile is a chronology of my son’s fall into addiction and untimely death at age 35. It also recounts my journey of inconsolable grief and grueling passage back to “life.”
Through my story, I want to reach out to young people, showing how easily they could become addicted. I hope to influence this generation to think not only of themselves, but of their parents, and the devastation addiction causes. To those who have lost a loved one to this lecherous disease, I hope my book serves as a healing source.
