A NIOSH/OSHA committee reviewed scientific information, including documents concerning the 1977 International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) review of the carcinogenicity hazards of asbestos, and presents major conclusions and recommendations in this document. A detailed updating of significant scientific literature since the 1976 NIOSH Criteria Document and the 1977 IARC Monograph is attached.
