This is a collection of my innermost thoughts caught in the act of being poems. They are in no particular order of preference, but I have tried to somewhat loosely organize them into sections that are self-explanatory. There were written between 1977 and 2007.
Poetry is personal, so why do poets publish their poetry? We are, I think, compelled to write, and in writing, to share our poems, often to our own detriment. To me, writing is a complicated process filled with angst and awe, with pain and irreverence.
As for the name of the book, I saw this stunning picture in a magazine of warm afternoon sunlight flowing through weathered wooden shutters and the poem "Light Through Shuttered Window" was inspired.
