Cain had been considered a long-shot for the Republican nomination for President in 2012. Then everything changed after he defeated Rick Perry in the Florida Straw Poll. Cain did not just win. He destroyed Perry 37%-15% in what is considered a major upset. After his victory, Cain became the candidate of the moment. He received a lot of publicity, money poured into his campaign, and his poll numbers jumped. Cain is still a long-shot for the nomination, but his chances are much better now. He actually has a chance of winning.
