The Ascension

My name is Tessa Demetria. I am a powerful witch. Apparently, I am so powerful that Tellus, Goddess of the Earth, has chosen me as the perfect vessel to hold her power. Trust me when I tell you this was not my goal. I am also much stronger, faster, and harder to hurt then a human. I use these abilities to hunt the ultimate predator, vampires.

I am not alone in the battle against vampires. I am leader to a team of vampire hunters: Rafe, Honon, Kapueo, and Ying. I know the members of my team are not human. What are they? I do not know. They are keeping this to themselves. Let’s face it; I am not sharing with them what I am either. Even still, I lead and they follow. But for how long?

All of this I keep from the one person I love most, Nico. He is also a witch but he has chosen to bury his magic deep inside trying to hide from what he is. Sooner rather then later, Nico will have to come to terms with his power. Whether he likes it or not, Sol, God of the Sun, has chosen him to hold great power. Will Nico join us in our fight? I do not know.

I have worried about where I would lead my team and the things they would do for me. My concerns grow with the possibility of Nico joining our team. But something has changed. It is as if the world is turning in a different direction bringing something to us. Now, I fear that we will become the hunted.

I pray to Mother Earth, Tellus, and Father Sun, Sol, to protect them all.
