On The Way To The War

A childhood spent as part of a military family, following her Army dad around the country just before and during WWII was a very different and exciting adventure than most kids’ daily lives. Camp life, happenings and events give a completely new slant on what life was like with the Army on the move, preparing for WWII. What was it like aboard a military transport loaded with thousands of troops, crossing the ocean to the Philippines in 1946? Taking a train across the US in 1942 was an adventure in and of itself. Dad was a hard living, hard drinking, expert firearms officer, who could be cruel and abusive, but who would have guessed he would also be capable of holding his family hostage?
