Sacred Space
The sacredness of space exists in all of life. There is
space in building a building, constructing a playground, and
designing a garden. In all of this space, we come to realize,
or compare, that if we need space for all the man-made
materialistic endeavors, so too do we need the space in
our minds. The playground designs have to be just right
for the distance of swing to swing, the opening of doors
in buildings, and the planting of plants to allow for the proper
amount of room to grow in the sun. If we don’t have
enough space, we can't grow. Just for a moment stop and
picture your body. What do you look like? What are you
made of? Well, you are made up of atoms. What are atoms?
Atoms are made up of space. You are that which you see all
around you as a necessity to grow, although, most of us do
not know that at all. This necessity for growth is always there,
yet we never stop and feel it.
See yourself lying in a grassy green field looking up at
the sky. The sky is the most perfect blue without a cloud
in sight. You are that space. Clouds may appear at times
and block the blue sky, but the sky is always there, just like
the essence of you, God, the Holy Spirit, or whatever you
choose to call it. That space is always there — thoughts may
appear like the clouds, but as long as we recognize them
for what they truly are and not engage them we can rest
comfortably in the space that is always there for us.
