The Ares Ascension

When noted geologist Jason Iverson is gunned down during the centennial celebration of the first Martian colony, his oldest friend, Inspector Avery Sorenson, has his world shattered. Again. Still drowning in dark despair after the death of his young daughter at the hands of the notorious terrorist group, the Terran League, Sorenson takes it upon himself to act against orders and launch an investigation into his friend's death.

With the help of another old friend, disgraced special operative Miles Cohen, Sorenson finds himself on the trail of the same terrorist group that cost him his daughter. Even as he struggles to maintain a grip on his sanity, Sorenson discovers a pair of artifacts that Iverson had hidden in a location few knew about. Unknowingly targeted by the Terran League due to his investigation, Sorenson soon finds himself in an uneasy alliance with a quasi-religious group, known as the Elronites, who believe the artifacts hold the key to their beliefs. Together they try to solve the mystery of Iverson's murder and the truth about these strange artifacts. Racing against time and the Terran League, Sorenson and his new companions make an incredible discovery that will challenge the beliefs of the entire planet and bring Sorenson face to face with a destiny millions of years in the making.
