A courageous group of University of Texas students kidnap Elvis Presley in a noble effort to save him from his poor health, destructive lifestyle and addiction to prescription drugs. The King's "kidnappers," led by Paul Roberts and Tara Benoist, hide a near comatose Elvis in the basement of The Austin State Hospital, then smuggle him to "The Vineyard," an old ranch house nestled in the Texas Hill Country and rumored to be haunted.
Elvis eventually agrees to a five-month stay, his hair is cut, sideburns shaved, and name changed to "Aron" to help conceal his identity. Without radios, televisions and telephones, his kidnappers use physically demanding hikes, spirited games of football and porch stories to sidetrack Elvis/Aron from the tortures inherent in withdrawal and recovery.
As Paul and Tara fall deeply in love, their secret connections with the King unfold, and everyone is led through a whirlpool of ulterior motives, emotional challenges and euphoric situational highs.
