HOME REPAIR FOR THE REST OF US II
by Donkey Loco
Here is the second eBook in a series on simple do it yourself home repair and more. You know you can do it so grab this book and take notes, or better yet print it out for handy and future reference. There are so many projects around the house you can tackle, and with the super prices at your local home store there is no reason not to get started now. Thanks again.
Closet organizer owners have it made. They don’t have to spend an hour and a half trying to find a tie that matches their shirt every morning. They don’t have to steam their blouse in the shower because it spent the last week in a pile in the bedroom corner. They get up, survey their closet and put together the right ensemble before they get the sleep out of their eyes. Those of us who find ourselves on our knees in pajamas rummaging through heaps of clothing could really use a closet organizer.
So, should we run to our local hardware or discount store and purchase a closet organizer kit? Should we quickly hit the home improvement store and purchase a few sheets of 3/4 inch plywood and some nails? Not if we’re smart. Before putting together an organization system for a closet, there is a little advance work that needs be handled. Anyone who’s sick and tired of a disorganized, messy and altogether inefficient closet space needs to do three things before making any purchases.
Clean it. The idea of cleaning out the closet isn’t nearly as fun as the idea of building a new organizer, but it is an essential first step. Grab some trash bags, some cardboard boxes and get to work. Empty out your closet. It’s going to be easier to work from a blank slate, and a thorough cleaning will also give you a way to pare down your belongings. That’s right, it may be time to donate or throw away that lime green bridesmaid dress or the wide lapel sports jacket that is now three sizes too small. Clean out your closet completely and sort the items that will eventually find a place in your organized closet. While you’re at it, pay close attention to what kind of things you will be keeping and how much space they require.
