Ulan did not adjust well to the transition of sharing the limelight with an extended family. In fact, he accused his parents of leaving him out of family matters. He felt even more alienated from his younger twin brothers. Growing up, Ulan was the Prince of the Nkosana Village and the center of attention, but not long after the family reunited, he often felt that he had to compete with the mother he hardly knew, his twin sister Anaya, and his toddler twin brothers. He sensed that his father was trying to make up for time lost with his biological mother Isoke and his newfound twin sister Anaya. Wanting to regain some sense of self-worth, he decides to leave his loving home in South Africa and take a trip to New York City, where he is kidnapped and held for ransom. The plot thickens when Anaya, the only family member that believes the kidnapping story has to put her career on hold and walk away from the love of her life--a handsome, sexy doctor that is ready to propose--to travel to New York and bring her brother back to South Africa alive.
