Clipped Wings

‘Clipped Wings’ is a fictional story about the enduring love between a man and a woman belonging to two ethnic groups in Sri Lanka that were parties to the recently concluded civil war between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant group fighting for an independent state for the minority, but widely considered in the world to be one of the most dangerous terrorist groups, and the Sri Lankan Government. The story, amidst many twists and turns, takes the reader through a beautifully narrated tale of a forbidden love between a young Tamil girl and a young Sinhalese doctor, the tragedy of ethnic conflict, the agony of two lovers driven apart by the cruel war and racism and a devastating tsunami. It gives a nostalgic picture of the peaceful family life that prevailed in rural Sri Lanka before the war and keeps the reader wondering whether the enduring love between the two young people would be strong enough to triumph over all man-made and natural obstacles.
