Under the Poplars

I was born in 1946 in Western North Carolina into a family whose life was filled with love, charity and compassion. They loved nothing more than to tell stories about themselves or other family members and to bust a gut laughing at it. Except for the health and welfare of others, they never took anything seriously. To them life was a journey filled with ups and downs, ins and outs, that each must take. I learned at an early age to live life with a grain of salt and to be able to laugh at myself.


After high school I enlisted in the U. S. Navy where I would spend twenty years traveling to places I did not know existed. My career in the Navy gave the training and education that made me what I am today. I will always remember those years, the things I did and the people I met with fondness.


I have had many stories in my mind but never the time to write. Now that I am retired I have the time to do just that. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I did writing it. Dreams do come true in their own time.
