After striking gold in Florida’s real estate market, the Coyer Family lives lavishly in the wealthy beach city of Southernville. The Coyer’s only son, a sixteen-year-old named Brad receives everything he wants. However, Brad’s spoiled lifestyle hardens his ability to welcome a new adopted brother from rural, inland Florida.
Brad hates eleven-year-old Wesley from the first day his mother introduces him. Wesley’s innocent and mundane personality sharply contrasts from Brad’s fast-paced, materialistic life. Wesley simply wants a caring family, but Brad fails to agree with his parents sharing any of their wealth, attention, or love. Even with passing time, Brad’s cruelty toward Wesley relentlessly continues. Although Brad and Wesley grow up five years apart in two different areas of Florida, such excuses seem too weak for Brad to justify in his hatred of Wesley. Maybe Brad despises Wesley for the same reason his parents spoil him so much. Only until the consumption of a delicious lasagna dinner, will the repressed truth come out.
