Bonnie's first flying lessons were on her father's lap. By the time she was twelve, she knew how to read the instruments on an airplane.
"I used to hang around the hangars and airport after school and weekends," she said. "To me the hangars and airstrip were an extension of our house."
Bonnie had school friends growing up, but the mechanics and pilots were her best friends. "I liked them better than anyone else I knew."
