Second-Mile Servants

Based on Jesus’ teaching that Christians should be people who willingly go the second mile to serve others (Matthew 5:41), Bill Rasco shows us how to practically live out the radical service that Jesus exemplified. He states that “Walking the second mile involves a shift in perspective. When we choose to walk with God, we must shed our limited perspective and learn to see through God’s eyes. The road is no longer measured by the number of miles, but by the number of opportunities we have to share God’s grace. People are not judged by their usefulness to us, but by their worth to God. Time is not counted by clocks and calendars, but seen against the backdrop of eternity. Service is not valued by the benefit it brings to us, but by the glory it brings to God. Being a second-mile servant demands that we see the world, the things, and the people around us from the point-of-view of Jesus.”
