Arnaud Bellevue is one of the many immigrants who came to America to live the American Dream. He was born in Croix Des Bouquets, Haiti to parents Yvette and Roland Bellevue. He learns the rough streets of Brownville, Brooklyn at the early age of eleven. Arnaud had to become accustom to the new way of life in America. He overcame the different culture, language and a sub average start in school. He was drawn to playing professional soccer and realizes his dream and passion would not materialize. Here, for the first time he tells in a memoir how he dealt with his unsuccessful quest of becoming successful as a professional soccer player and how he rebounded to become a college graduate.
We see Arnaud growing up, disobedient to what his parents had wanted for him which was to have a white collar profession. After many disappointments, he met and married Irene and started their life as an average, middle class family. He fell in love and raised his family and the rest is history.
Now, after 44 years, for the first time he talks about the more than a decade fight he fought with the illness that took Irene’s life. The struggles of being a care-giver to Irene, being a Father to his children and having to work endless hours to maintain his family; from the beginning until the end of Irene’s fight with Multiple Sclerosis; to the opportunity for him to reflect on his past and build his future.
