Elmhurst Community Theatre

Curtis Booth, an out-of-work actor, inherits a farm in New Hampshire. The locals want him to direct a play. He doesn't want to direct an amateur theatrical, but he needs the stipend that it will pay. The play is awful, the actors, are worse, and the rehearsals are one disaster after another. On opening night the set falls onto the cast. The audience thinks the collapse is part of the show. One reviewer sees it as a symbol of the fall of the capitalistic system.
The performance is so bad that...
everyone loves it. They want Curtis to direct another play. He needs the money, and he thinks the new play can't be worse than the one he just directed.
He is wrong about that.
