The title of this book, "Keepers At Home," is suggested by the Apostle Paul in his epistle to Titus, second chapter and fifth verse. For a long time I have felt that a book ought to be written on this subject, hence this little volume. Read it carefully, prayerfully and treasure up its truths in your heart, then endeavor to build and maintain good homes. Especially do we appeal to the motherhood of our nation to be noble, godly "keepers at home." Your responsibility is indeed great
No nation is better than the individual homes of which it is composed. In fact each and every home is a part of some nation, or some country. The wealth of a nation cannot be estimated so much from the standpoint of its silver and gold, fields and forests, but from that of its people, and the homes in which they live and spend their lives. A rich nation materially, with bad homes, bad people, criminal and dangerous, who reject God and the Holy Bible, certainly is not a desirable country in which to live.
However, a country that may be less rich in natural resources, but blessed with godly, righteous, peaceful people, whose homes are scenes of Christian love, a family altar, kindness and gentleness, and all that goes to make life good and great and noble and sublime, certainly is a desirable place to live. This ought to be true of every country and nation. But sad to say, it isn't.
Please read this little book to the family circle and heed its truths. Lend it to your neighbors, or better still, get them to buy a copy of their own. Pray that it may prove a great blessing to hundreds and thousands of homes, thus enriching the lives and souls of many people.
