This is a selection of poems from Nino Martoglio's classic collection Centona. Martoglio was the prince of poetry in Catania in the early 20th cenury. He was the man who convinced Pirandello to write for the theater. A playwright, a poet and theatrical entrepreneur, Martoglio was a legendary figure. His poems poke fun at his fellow Catanesi. Gaetano Cipolla's translation is masterful.
