A Portable Offshore Pipe Crimping Tool

A Portable Offshore Pipe Crimping Tool, describes a remotely controlled crimping frame that can be placed on submerged drill pipe. The hydraulic activated tool can then crimp the drill pipe around the drill rod either entirely stopping the flow, or greatly reducing it. It was initially designed for the Deepwater Horizon incident. However, it becomes an emergency standby tool that can be easily transported and quickly deployed for offshore drilling blowouts. It can also be placed on the drill pipe during routine drilling as a redundant backup to the blowout preventer.
