The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) developed this guide to help schools and child care providers identify potential funding sources for water quality related projects. In addition to water quality projects, this guide can also be used to identify potential funding sources for a variety of programs related to children’s health and environment.

This guide provides the most current and accurate information available at the time of publication. This information was compiled through extensive research and analysis of funding information collected from philanthropists with relevant funding priorities. Potential donors were identified primarily through Internet searches of funding directories and information published by foundations, non-profit organizations, and corporations. The researchers systematically excluded donors that did not support schools or child care facilities as well as donors without funding priorities related to water quality programs. Organizations were selected for this guide based only on the criteria described above.
