First to Last Picking

This is novel about Sicilian immigrants who work picking tobacco leave in a farm in Connecticut. The author, a professor of Psychology at Harvard Medical School, recalls his past as a youth growing up in CT and coping with the challenges faced by all immigrants. He and his family devise a code of behavior that tries to keep faith with the old culture values while embracing the values of the new world.
