Georg Moritz Ebers (1837-1898) was one of the first modern historians to be an Egyptologist, making an important discovery and writing historical romantic novels along the way. Ebers found the Ebers Papyrus, an Ancient Egyptian medical papyrus dating back to 1550 B.C., which discusses the treatment of cancer and illnesses. He also wrote historical novels in an effort to garner more interest in Ancient Egypt.
Not surprisingly, Ebers wrote about Cleopatra, the last pharaoh of Egypt who is also possibly the most famous woman in history. Ebers covers her Ptolemaic lineage, her relationships with Caesar and Antony, her struggle to keep Egypt independent of Rome, and her famous demise.
This edition of Ebers’ Cleopatra is specially formatted with a Table of Contents and is illustrated with over a dozen pictures of Ebers, Caesar, and Cleopatra.
