"The Family Kent: Children of an American Blacksmith follows an 18th century American family as its members take the long journey from 1701 to 1799 and transform from British colonial subjects into free and fiery American citizens. The main characters of the novel are Jonathan and Joanna Kent, twins born in January 1701. Through their marriages, their letters, their children and grandchildren, the reader will experience the grand century that gave birth to the United States of America. The reader will come into contact with revolutionary 18th century Boston and Philadelphia through Benjamin Kent, a young man of the 21st century, who discovers that he is a ninth generation descendant of Jonathan Kent. As he reads his grandfather's chronicle, safely stored in 1799 and not seeing the light of day again until the 21st century, the 18th century becomes alive, personal, and electrifying."
