Born to a schizophrenic mother and alcoholic father, Glen's childhood was a struggle for survival. His mother smothered him as an infant, and although he survived, he suffered neurological damage and had to learn to function independently again. Two of his sisters died of similar abuse.

Glen responded to his life threats by using mind enhancement techniques through which he could heal himself. As he matured, he became a life-long student of Zen, Mysticism, out-of-body travel, dream interpretation, nightmare control, and hypnotism, as well as the scientific research in these areas.
