The Return of Ghetto Woman

The Return of Ghetto Woman is a short story from my literary collection Bigger and Blacker: The Black Vamp Literary Guide. It is a fantasy that loosely illustrates the shame of poverty, the fear of a creature, and some of the events of 9/11. It is both gripping and quite entertaining as the main characters must come together despite lack of money and transportation to get from San Francisco to New York. There are a number of obstacles along the way that add intrigue, excitement, humor, and danger to the adventure that nearly culminates ten years later. And asks the questions…Who or what is a hero? And how should we celebrate such heroics? Because many people depend on their spouse, relatives, friends, or neighbors for their every day needs. But what if you did not have these support systems? And you did not have a job or a decent place to live? Or anything to eat? Or any money? Then one day you were all alone and confronted by an enemy and forced to fight for food and your safety. Then somehow strangely reunited and forced to trust that person or that thing which almost tried to kill you!
